Leaving school at 14 and going straight into the iron and steel works across the road learning the skills of making, repairing and using the machines to to build anything from a bolt to a ship.

At 20 I went off to foreign parts in one of our famous British Tankers where I learned some new skills and certifications as an Engineer Officer.
In 1978 for my birthday I was given an Ohio scientific c1p computer, enhanced by Mutec with Upper and lower case, and 2K of memory.
I was hooked.
Gradually worked my way up from Basic to windows with faster and smaller machines, Still continuing to work on ships worldwide.
Do not know what happened to my brain, probably a bash on the head in bad weather on the North sea, but now it is sometimes weeks or in this case months since I get the recall to go with a good project that I started.
